Concerning the design of a motorcycle frame the engine is often adopted as an element of strength and stiffness, therefore the fundamental structure of the frame and the method of engine mounting effect the vibrations of the motorcycle. To predict and reduce the vibrations at on early design stage it is important to comply with the necessary engineering principles to shorten the period of development. This report describes the utilization of Finite Element Method (FEM) and the Building Block Approach (BBA), and the development of a method to predict the vibrations of a complete motorcycle aiming primarily to achieve more accuracy for practical use, to reduce man-hours for the preparation of finite element models, and to automate input operations.
