An electric vehicle (powered by batteries) has been described as an 'Energy Crisis on Wheels'. To successfully attract a market for electric vehicles, Energy Partners believes that fuel cell and other emerging technologies must be combined to create available vehicle rather than retrofitting new concepts to old technology. Combining proton exchange membrane fuel cells and advanced composite materials is the correct approach to attaining a realistic, long range, rapid refueling electric vehicle. This paper details the development of a hybrid fuel cell/battery powered car which incorporates Energy Partners' energy efficiency' and 'light weight' philosophy.
