Road vehicles, moving in the cities, are the first responsible of vehicular traffic. Vehicles moved by I.C.E. produce a high and often unacceptable environmental impact due to exhaust emissions, dust dispersal from various chassis components and noise. 'All electric' vehicles developed up to now aren't able to cover large distances because of limited energy density of the batteries. Trying to improve the I.C.E. low efficiency due to its partial load working especially in urban areas and low electric vehicles autonomy, two hybrid cars prototypes at high rangeability have been developed and are being tested. The first one permits to cover longer distances, typical of a fast moving traffic roads utilisation. Such a drive system allows, as resulted from road tests, to reduce fuel consumption, exhaust emissions and to increase the overall vehicle efficiency with equal performances of a conventional car.
