The durability performance of poly-urethane and poly-ethylene coatings which were developed as heavy-duty materials for application to steel tube piles and steel sheet piles has been investigated. The durability was evaluated by accelerated tests and marine exposure tests with focus on the degradation of coating materials and the disbonding behavior of coated steel piles. Furthermore, the relation between the coating materials (plastics) characterization and the dominant effects for the durability was examined.
