The vehicle interior airflow problem is ideally suited to computational analysis. There are many interacting processes including multiple inlets and outlets, complex blockages to the flow, and radiating and head absorting surfaces. This paper covers the application of the PHOENICS CFD package to the interior airflow of a Range Rover, and describes the successful modelling of air movements, body conductance, and heat balance inside the vehicle.
