In this article, different advanced suspension concepts are discussed. Among them, the so-called semi-active systems are of particular interest as they combine a high potential of control performance with moderate costs. In order to realize such systems, advanced measurements and simulation techniques are applied at Bosch. An important topic is the development of appropriate sensors. In the article, several examples of practically developed sensors as well as adjustable dampers and springs are given. Also, some basic control concepts for advanced semiactive suspension systems are presented.
