A numerical method for solving Euler equations based on the method of lines has been implemented on networked engineering workstations and a multi-transputer system using a domain decomposition approach. The message passing is handled by PVM (Parallel Virtual Machine) software. The approach is tested for both 2D and 3D test problems governed by Euler equations. For dynamic load balancing and reduction of computational work a strategy of selective solutions of subdomains based on local residuals has been employed. For steady supersonic and hypersonic flow problems, a reduction of 40-50% computational work and 12-1% of CPU time has been achieved.
