The BNU static power converter is used for the auxiliary power supply and battery charging in LRVs and other vehicles for public transport. It is conceived to replace the motor alternator set which was frequently used previously. It can also be installed in existing vehicles. The operating range of the converter comprises DC 600 V and DC 750 V lines without modifications. The static converters developed by KIEPE ELEKTRIK have a separate regulation for 3-phase AC and DC-outputs. With these outputs, two independent systems are supplied: a three phase AC with or without star point and a DC low voltage system with separate battery charging. The power circuit with chopper in the input and inverter at the output enables optimal regulation due to its decoupled in- and output. The convertor's most important data specifications are presented by the author.
