Military projects impose certain requirements which may create problems to the designer/supplier, but which improve the lot of the user. These general requirements such as the choice of language are in the most part for good reasons. The author shows how in the case of Ada the difficulties have been justified by the results. Acceptance of military equipment is also rigorous and using this as a starting point, he extrapolates a few ideas about the implications of new and future technology.
