For pt.I (the US Air Force's part of the Joint Surveillance Target Attack Rada System) see ibid., no.7, p.31 (July 1990). This part covers the Army's part which involves the development of ground station modules that receive and process information relayed to it from the airborne portion of JSTARS, a converted Boeing 707, designated the E8-A. A powerful multi-mode radar surveys large areas of land and transmits raw radar intelligence data to an unlimited number of users. The GSMs receive preprocessed data from the surveillance and control data link, manipulate the data and display it in usable formats.
