Ways of improving the technical and economic characteristics of specialized ships are considered that are associated with power take-off for supplying auxiliary ship mechanisms. A power-take-off technique using a shaft generator mounted on the shaft of the main turbine is shown to be a valid approach. Stability conditions are determined for parallel operation of a shaft generator with the main generators of the electric power system (EPS) in the presence of disturbances on the propeller side and in the presence of disruptions of shipboard network operation. A mathematical model and program package are developed and used to investigate processes in an EPS with shipboard shaft generator equipped with an electric propulsion plant. The limits of the region of stability for system operation are given for various relationships of moments of inertia of generator sets, together with the values of the permissible variations in the torque of the disturbance forces applied to the turbine shaft.
