An interactive systems-analyst workstation has been developed that will function as a toolbox comprising a set of automated tools. The user-assisted generic systems analyst workstation called GENSAW is a system of computer programs currently resident on VAX systems that provides interactive graphics for a range of systems analysis tools. The workstation is designed to contain all of the knowledge of each specific tool in the toolbox. The systems analyst using GENSAW does not require any special training with a specific tool to apply that tool to a problem. GENSAW is being developed to permit the user to define relationships between system components and system performance by means of the development of a dynamic simulation model using MicroSAINT. Further requirements and expansions of GENSAW are discussed.
