The estimation of the number of sinusoids present in a signal embedded in additive, white noise is investigated. The goal is to detect spectral lines associated with target vehicles, in such a way as to develop processing electronic to increase safety and comfort in vehicle. Here the authors present a new algorithm of detection, based on FFT-method. An adaptive threshold is computed to extract meaning spectral lines in the observed signal.
