This paper presents a technique to solve a dynamic thermal analysis problem. The engineers at Rover Group Ltd, successfully use the simulator in conjunction with System Modelling Blocks and the Macro Modelling technics to predict the behaviour of an ignition coil circuit suffering from device self-heating. Designs are schematically captured, while the complexity of analogue devices are encapsulated in Macro Models. This simple, graphical technique visually describes the overall circuit behaviour, which enhances 'what-if' analysis, error correction and succeeds where other solutions based on text entry have failed.
