In the past five years the European Technology and Research Centre (ESTEC) has been heavily involved in MMIC technology. Several activities have been carried out and planned for promoting and developing this technology that offers unique benefits for both ground and on-board equipments for space applications. These activities aim at better understanding the technology, developing specific circuits and equipments based on MMICs, preparing for the space qualifications, and at training of engineers, young graduates and students in the design of MMIC devices.
