A borosilicate cover glass was developed for solar cells of the EXOS-D, a scientific satellite to be launched for the investigation of the mechanism of auroral particle generation. The composition of cover glass, designated BDX, is formulated to have an effective U.V. cut off to protect adhesives from deterioration and high radiation resistance, as well as high transmittance. All the cover glasses are coated with a conductive layer to keep an electrostatic isopotential on the satellite for accurate scientific measurements.
