Analysis of the data collected from the experimental cluth torque transducer installed in the Sensor Group's Transit van is still in progress. It is clear, however, that the technique described in this paper does indeed provide a reliable measurement of drive line torque whilst the vehicle is in motion. The effects of road surface irregularities do not introduce an unacceptable level of noise - although exactly what is acceptable must depend on the particular application. There are several possible activities associated with the future analysis of the data obtained so far. Firstly it is essential to establish a nominal characteristic for the wind-up ratio against measured torque.
