This paper addresses Air Force Logistics Command's (AFLC's) Technology Application Program Management (TAPM) program. Adopted in September of 1985, the TAPM program establishes the infra-structure along with management responsibilities to accelerate the transition of mature laboratory technologies with the potential for improving the supportability and combat capabilities of operational Air Force systems. It also acts as the bridge between the research and development community and AFLC. The benefits from the TAPM program are many. This paper touches upon the far-reaching payoffs. This includes using the inherent reliability and maintainability possibilities of new technologies, developing timely technology support concepts, and reducing the risk of new technology through small-scale applications and insertions.
