Complex soldered joints are used in the manufacture of rocket elements, such as liquid-propellant rocket engines (LRE) NDT technology development for soldered joints is complex due to the design features of the rocket elements. The most difficult defects to identify in the soldered joints of the combustion chambers are solder skips. The minimum area of solder skip that needs to be identified is 1 mm2. The transverse size of the solder skips may reach several microns according to preliminary estimates. The laser ultrasonic testing method is proposed for quality control of the manufacture of soldered joints of LRE combustion chambers. Mathematical modelling of the testing process was undertaken in this research Several series of experiments on the detection of solder skips were also carried out. These experiments showed the possibility that the laser ultrasonic method could detect solder skips with an area of 1 mm2 and more, and a transverse size of 0.02 mm. It is also possible to detect cracks in the ribs in the horizontal direction with a length of 0.5 mm or more The reliability of the test is confirmed by the results of metallographic analysis.
