The Automotive industry will see significant changes until the end of the next decade. Changing mobility needs, raising requirements towards sustainable economics and the "Internet of Things" will impact the way cars are used and designed. With a much higher importance of electronics and software-based solutions, revenue and profit pools are changing, and new strong players trying to grab their piece of the cake. At the same time, the industry is likely to start to move along a similar path as consumer electronics (albeit in a slower way). Industry standards and economies-of-scale lead to a decomposition of the value chain with a couple of large players occupying key positions. A clear core/non-core and partnering strategy, combined with fast and efficient development becomes key for success for Automotive companies. The Automotive industry is impacted by three major trends: Future mobility, sustainability and the "Internet of things" lead to technology and business model innovation.
