Due to size restrictions and increasing mechatronic integration power electronics in a car have to fulfill tough requirements regarding size, temperature range, and lifetime. Existing technologies have come to their limits especially with respect to maximum operation temperature and cyclic thermal stresses. Therefore, new technological solutions for compact, high-temperature resistant, reliable power electronics and for suited testing procedures which allow a timely qualification of the automotive components are needed. Passive electronic devices and assembly concepts come into the focus.
