The Volkswagen Golf VII GTI Performance is the first front-wheel driven production vehicle which features an integrated electronically-controlled differential lock in its drive and vehicle dynamics design. The controlled front differential lock maximizes traction, significantly reduces understeering during acceleration, and makes optimal use of the friction locking potential in the limit range. In highly dynamic situations, the front differential lock stabilizes the yaw axis area of the vehicle by actively increasing yaw damping and thereby relieving the driver. Because the locking torque is control based on the individual driving situations, negative interactions do not occur in daily driving situations. For the driver, driving pleasure and performance are enhanced significantly overall while the vehicle remains fully suitable for daily use.
