Aircraft cabin data network is a key element in today's aircraft, where several functionalities of the aircraft cabin are grouped in four different security domains. In todays architectures, each domain is normally separated from the others and uses different standards, ranging from ARINC based standards to customized Ethernet. We presented in this paper a new architecture for a possible future of cabin data network. The main key principle of this network is the introduction of a common backbone which is shared by the three avionic domains. As the three domains will share the same physical link, some considerations have to be made regarding security and interaction between the domains. We addressed in this paper some of those problems, namely the introduction of Quality-of-Service to ensure bandwidth and delay guarantees. We simulated a normal case with the expected bandwidths and showed some features of the chosen scheduler. We also simulated a case where the network is overloaded due to an intensive use of the network by the passengers owned devices. We showed that while the passengers domain is impacted by the high load, it has a low impact on the rest of the domains regarding the measured end-to-end delay and jitter.
