One of the effective ways to reduce the fuel consumption for vehicles is the aerodynamic drag (Cd) reduction. In this paper, both the numerical simulation method and wind tunnel test were taken to research the factors influence on the aerodynamics drag reduction of commercial vehicles. The add-on parts including deflector, side fenders, visor, engine compartment flow etc. The validity of their abilities to reduce the value of Cd was investigated. The results show that, for a tractor with a container, using add-on parts can obviously reduce the aerodynamic drag (Cd) and save the vehicle energy. It was proved that some of the aerodynamic drag reduction methods in this paper were useful and powerful when they added on the typical commercial vehicle.
