In this report are schematically presented some corrosion cases found in naval field. Such corrosion cases involve disparate materials which arc used in different types of boats, ships rind/ or equipments. The failures causes have been researched with consideration about the general information, related to the damage, furthermore, various examinations like chemical analysis, micro-siruclural characterization, mechanical tests and voltage (electric potential difference) measures have been carried out in order to confirm the hypothesis of the corrosion phenomena. Schematically, the various cases that have been studied are reported as follows: 1. Galvanic corrosion/erosion phenomena produced by the contact between aluminum alloy casting (pump cover) and copper alloy casting (thermostatic valve). 2. Propeller shafts austenitic stainless steel 316 L, corroded after covering themselves with the mud for a short period. In addition to crevice corrosion, a damage mechanism type Microbiology Influenced Corrosion (MIC) are suspected 10 be the failure causes. 3. Cooling sea water intake carbon steel with corrosion crater (pitting) due to lack of adequate protection, galvanic contact with a component in stainless steel type 316L and stagnant water conditions. 4. Cooling seawater corroded Cu/AJ alloys results for "pitting" in critical areas of elbows, produced by casting with poor chemical composition and after clumsily painted. 5. The sea water cooling system condenser-heat exchanger in copper-nickel alloy, probably not properly passivated at the start of the activity and with loc alized leakage;. 6. Welded joints related to aluminum alloy hull which were attacked selectively after use of Mg-based anodes at sea, in addition to the usual zinc anodes. 7. Welded joints related to aluminum alloy hull, which were corroded because of the creation of the screen condition (crevice corrosion).
