The growing problem of climate change associated with high oil prices are increasing the interest and research on electric vehicles (EVs). To drive an electric vehicle, it is necessary an infrastructure system that can provide charging when the EV is parked (in homes, offices, public parks, etc) as well as ongoing charge (to refill the EV power in a fast process). But is the charging infrastructure a profitable business? Should a driver buy an EV and pay for each charge (slow or fast) or should it pay for charging services? This study makes a business analysis and comparison between two possible business models on the Electric vehicle's infrastructure: Pay & Charge; Charge as Service, taking into consideration the benefits versus costs for drivers and charging infrastructure stakeholders and new business opportunities in a free competition market.
