Hybrid Electric Vehicle has advantages over traditional vehicle in both improving the fuel economy and reducing vehicle emissions. But in Series Hybrid Electric Vehicle power train described in this paper, Efficiency of generator in Auxiliary Power Unit(APU) influences the output power of Auxiliary Power Unit, neglecting its effect on power distribution between APU and battery set will deteriorate fuel economy of the vehicle. In this paper, APU generator real efficiency is considered in the content of both global optimization and transient optimization algorithms. Simulation results show that the generator real efficiency indeed has great influence on fuel economy of SHEV, also the APU control strategy must consider generator real efficiency in its future control logic design.
