This study newly proposes the utilization of aqueous methanol and PFFs made of SMP in PEM electrolyser cell for producing hydrogen efficiently. Results derived from the experiments can be summarized as follows: (1) The PFF which can supply reactant evenly to electrode and smoothly remove CO2 exhibits higher performance of hydrogen production in PEM electrolyser cell compared to GFF. This can be attributed to the increase in effective electrode area and the reduction in diffusion polarization. (2) The performance of PEM electrolyser cell is improved largely by using methanolwater mixture. This improvement can be explained by the lower Gibbs free energy for methanol. (3) The combination of sintered spherical metal powder PFF and methanol-water mixture is very advantageous to produce hydrogen efficiently in PEM electrolyser cell. (4) The operating conditions somewhat influence to the performance of hydrogen production in different manner. Especially, the increase of temperature has a large effect on cell performance and is an important factor for producing hydrogen efficiently.
