The accomplished study has resulted in theoretical principles of the TUM (total unbalanced mass) compensation of CGM (crank gear mechanism) parts and elimination of the extra free total unbalanced moment which appears when V-8 engines are fitted with replacement pistons, conrods, piston rings, and conrod liners of a technologically optimized design. This is achieved by increasing the counterweight mass and the distance between the center of gravity of the mass and the axis of rotation and by altering the angle of location of the counterweights, the MGP (mass-geometric parameters), the material, and the design of the sump plugs in the conrod necks, by inducing directed imbalances in the pulley and impeller planes of the engine crankshaft. The application of any of the above-listed methods individually or in combination allows the full elimination of the TUM studied and balancing of the crankshaft assembly, to achieve the true V-8 engine balance in manufacture and repair. Thus, the wear characteristics and the irregularity of wear of the crankshaft journal bearings improve; the durability and FFOP (failure-free operation probability) increase and the vibration and noise of the new and overhauled engines decrease. This fact should be taken into consideration in the design, manufacture, operation, and repair of engines.
