The manufacture of tyre is complex. It requires the latest technology, heavy equipment, precision instruments. Performance of tyre depends on quality of textile fibre being used for reinforcement. Polyester cord has high modulus and low shrinkage characteristics in comparison to nylons (nylon 6 and 66) and thus provides excellent dimensional stability during tyre making. Polyester also has better retention of relaxation modulus. However, polyester has poor fatigue resistance. Fatigue resistance depends on denier of cord, twist, dipping method, temperature type of cord etc. In case of normal cars the cords which are used in the tyre are normally nylon or polyester. But in case of aircraft tyre the cords should have high tenacity. So high tenacity Kevlar 29 are mainly used for aircraft tyres.
