This paper presents an electric power train which can be easily provided with an ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) for range extension. To reach high power densities, a high speed electric machine is an intended execution which makes a multispeed transmission reasonable. The AMT (Automated Manual Transmission) represents the easiest approach to realize an automated multispeed transmission. However, this transmission concept bares interrupted traction during shifting. To avoid the interruption, two small e-machines, each with half power, are arranged in parallel instead of using one big e-machine. By alternating usage of both e-machines and a respective shift strategy, seamless shifting of the AMT is possible. One of the main benefits of this power train is the enhanced efficiency of the smaller e-machines at partial load. Additionally, one of the e-machines can be linked to an ICE for range extension which allows both serial and parallel hybrid mode. Next steps are the analysis of the potentials of the transmission system including range extender opeartion as well as a comparison to systems with planetary gear sets. Therefore the layout of the transmission needs to be adjusted to interact perfectly with EM (Electro Machine) and ICE for certain usage.
