The effect of road traffic vibrations on the directional fatigue deformation of a steel gas pipeline was studied in field tests to carry out a spectrum analysis of deformation density and damage in an unstable area (mining headings). The gas pipeline was made of pipe steel (wall thickness 3.8 mm, diameter 50 mm, length about 30 m) and located in an excavation (depth 0.8 m, slope 2.5 mm/m). The pipeline was used for about 6 years before the test. The road traffic-related vibrations were measured, registered and analyzed. The spectral characteristics were made by using Fourier transformations to establish harmonic components in the signal. The short-time Fourier transformation were made by using Matlab spectrogramm function and visualized by contour function to estimate the unstability degree of the phenomenon. Results of the signal analysis can be used at the designing the gas pipeline networks in the neighberhood of car vehicle traffic.
