Quality assurance for embedded systems has been strongly influenced by model-driven development and model-based testing. The work presented in this paper focuses on the integration of model-based statistical testing with model-in-the-loop (MiL) and hardware-in the-loop (HiL) test activities applied to a real automotive control unit. The approach aims at improving the reuse of test artifacts and increasing the degree of automation. This will lead to lower effort. A tool chain for automated MiL and HiL testing has been developed, starting with the original system requirements and concluding with statistical reliability estimations.
