The application of mixed fuel to DI-PCCI gives the advantage of being able to control the mixture formation process for early timing fuel injection regardless of the type of ignitability fuel used. Therefore, this paper reports on additional sets of engine tests conducted for various ignitability fuels to investigate the effect of fuel ignitability on PCCI, while simultaneously changing the compression ratio (epsilon). The test results show that higher ignitability fuel operating at lower epsilon makes it possible to extend the operation to a higher load. Furthermore, the combination of higher ignitability fuel and lower epsilon achieves lower NOx emissions while also maintaining higher combustion efficiency.
