Twin screw pumps with declining pitches designed for multiphase operation are experimentally investigated. The pumps are operated in single, serial or parallel mode within a closed loop pipe system of half technical scaled size. The continuously transported mixtures consist of air, water and oil. In the theoretical part of the investigation a model is deduced for the calculation of the delivering behaviour of the multiphase screw pumps. The measured and the predicted flow rates as well as the pumping efficiencies are given as a function of the differential pressure, which is built up by the pumps.
