The Automotive Data and Time Triggered Framework (ADTF) implements a flexible platform for developing advanced driver assistance and safety systems. ADTF provides software components for efficiently integrating new applications to automotive bus- and hardware architectures. ADTF combines an interactive working environment with a software toolbox targeted to speed up implementation and validation of functional software components. Applications can use standardized tools for data recording and visualization. Complex systems are built by graphically defining signal data flow between software components and can immediately be executed. Wrapping software into ADTF components simplifies transfer of project results, existing software becomes the out of the box toolkit for subsequent projects. The modular structure implicitly supports non functional aspects like reusability and portability. Despite the degree of flexibility there are no impacts on performance or stability. Using the standardized ADTF platform, developers are able to shorten development cycles for functionality targeted at embedded systems. ADTF defines a binary standard where functional interfaces and data formats are opened for developers. Consistent interfaces allow software components to be distributed in binary form, the open application platform ADTF implicitly covers the issue of protecting know-how. Based on the open concept of ADTF, collaborative projects between OEMs and suppliers are simplified because most technical requirements concerning common infrastructure are complied.
