The new Audi A4 is offered with highly developed technologies in response to ongoing demands for greater safety and operating convenience. In this paper the Audi side assist - the lane change assist is described. The system supports the driver with its issue of warning if the turn signal has been operated to indicate a lane change, but the driver has not noticed a vehicle detected by Audi side assist in the adjacent lane. The warning covers vehicles in the driver's 'blind spot' and other approaching at high speed. The Audi lane assist - the lane departure warning system is also described. This camera-based lane departure warning systems warns the driver by means of steering wheel vibration. The systems begins to operate at speeds of about 60 km/h and therefore is of particular assistance when driving on motorways and country roads. Another assistance system described in the paper is the Audi parking system advanced - the high-tech parking aid. It uses a combination of ultrasonic sensors and rearview camera, in conjunction with Audi's MMI system to assist the driver when parking the car. The images of the camera are displayed on the MMI screen and the control unit superimposes auxiliary guidance lines on the screen so that the driver can see the dimensions of the vehicle in relation to the surrounding. There are two operating modes for the parking aid. In the standard mode, the driver is guided by orange lines. PAS advanced includes the acoustic and visual parking aid based on ultrasonic sensors. The APS plus and advanced warn the driver when the car is less than 30 centimetres from an obstruction.
