The expediency of a thin composite electromagnetic screen at the external surface of a nonmetallic cryostat in a cryogenic dynamic induction motor (coil gun) is demonstrated. A mathematical model of the motor with a massive armature is developed, taking account of the distribution of the induced currents, the load, and the liquid-nitrogen cooling and the nonlinearity and variation in the basic parameters during the working cycle. The influence of the screen configuration on the electromechanical and energy characteristics of the motor and on the external magnetic field in the close and remote zones is established. A complex efficiency characteristic for the screened motor is proposed.
