A simplified model of wheel rolling has been proposed comprising a perfectly rigid disc, a thin viscoelastic layer, and a shell filled with gas and simulating the internal pressure in an automobile tyre. A method of calculating the deformation and coefficient of resistance to rolling at a constant velocity of the center of mass has been developed. Dependencies of the coefficient of resistance to rolling and deformation of the wheel on the velocity of the center of mass, the normal load, and the internal pressure have been obtained. They take into account only the part of resistance to rolling which results from the viscosity of the thin layer material. The calculated coefficient of resistance to rolling can be described as the lower valuation of the real coefficient of resistance to rolling of the automobile tyre.
