Timing chain tensioners on the new Porsche Cayenne engine are now made from two grades of engineering plastics. Stanyl TW341 is used for the top layer and provides a non-abrasive surface that presses on the timing chain. It is a PA 46 with high wear and oil resistance at the required 140 degree C operating temperatures. Stanyl TW241F10, for the base of the tensioner, is a 50% glass-filled PA 46 with high oil resistance, high modulus and stiffness, high resistance to fatigue, and low creep at the required operating temperatures.
