The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency is exploring Hardwire high-strength steel reinforcement wire as armament material for military vehicles. Composed of ultrahigh-strength twisted steel wire cords, the wire provides both high strength and high modulus in a very thin, ductile envelope, and can be molded into or onto virtually any structure or part.
