The control of position and orientation angle of 4-wheeled cars is the central part in the development of automatic parking systems. A relative easy approach has been proposed for the automatic parking of 4-wheeled cars subject to steering angle and parking space limitations. Based on this control law, various kinds of parking can be realized. The basic idea is to regulate the direction of the car to a circle family and let the car approach the circle family that leads to the destination asymptotically. Conditions on the initial state have also been disclosed such that it can be checked whether the parking is possible or not. Experiments verify that this approach is very practical.
