With adequate funding, alternative energy powers our laptop and car and lowers our home energy bill in the next 10 years. Fuel cells and solar energy from photovoltaic (PV) cells promise to slow the consumption of nonrenewable resources. Fuel cells face the same challenge as PVs obtaining sufficient funding. According to a survey published in the Breakthrough Technologies Institute's Fuel Cells at the Cross roads, respondents believe that the energy industry can undergo profound changes over the next few decades, resulting in some form of hydrogen economy.
