"Active-bogie-steering (ABS) truck", is one of the methods to realize the compatibility between curving performance and hunting stability. ABS truck has active steering mechanism only between car body and truck frame, and truck flame is steered by actuators toward "radial steering position", which realizes no "bogie angle shortage". Validity tests were carried out on the truck rolling test stand in NTSEL, which can simulate curve-running condition, and we have also carried out numerical simulation using multi-body dynamics simulation program A'GEM. The results of stand tests and numerical simulations show 1) "lateral contact force of outside wheel of leading axle" in curving is produced by "bogie angle shortage" and 2) "bogie angle shortage" is reduced proportionally by bogie-steering actuator force. So active-bogie-steering can reduce the lateral contact force of the outside wheel of leading axle in curving, and it is possible to reduce lateral contact force in sharp less than zero.
