The human body reacts to vibration in a complex way which makes simulation of a complete virtual model (human and work machine) very difficult. By using a simplified transfer function, that constitutes as a human-seat behaviour, the response can be estimated without using human or seat models. The aim of this study was to research a human-seat transfer function based on the measurements from a tractor cabin. An objective was to develop a transfer function which can be used to simulate the human-seat response in a virtual model. The transfer function was constructed using developed whole body vibration analysis program and 21 independent measurements. Finding the transfer function for human-seat response proved challenging. The first working transfer function had 21st and 22nd polynomial degrees, but with simplifying the frequency response the degree of polynomes reduced to 4 and 5 respectively. The human-seat response can be estimated within 10 per cent error margin (person weighing 80 Kg) using the developed transfer function. Using a transfer function will be very helpful when analysing whole body vibration from a virtual model that does not include complex human model.
