This paper is mainly dealt with providing operational requirements for an automatic flight control of a commercial aircraft during its takeoff and landing by providing technological means like - Automatic Dependant Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B). An ADS-B equipped aircraft easily identifies other aircraft also it maintains better spacing with other aircraft. Systems like Traffic Information Service Broadcast (TISB) which when combined with ADS-B detects early warning signals about adverse weather conditions and state of the destination airport. US based Federal Aviation Authority (FAA) for its improved traffic management program has introduced programs like LAAS (Local Area Augmentation System) and WAAS (Wide Area Augmentation System) to augment Standard Positioning System (SPS). These systems maintains the required accuracy, availability, integrity and continuity of service in its program. The above mentioned is in addition to the design of an Automatic Flight Control System (AFCS) for a reliable takeoff and landing of aircraft; in the mean time the technical problems involved while developing a reliable automatic takeoff and automatic landing system can be solved. Overall the prime objective is to achieve an operational reliability in the order of 10E-9 with improved safety, good flight reliability, and a better economic operation of a commercial aircraft.
