The Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Division Newport (NUW-CDIVNPT), Test and Evaluation Department, has a requirement for a high-speed optical tracking and optical imaging system for the Land/Sea Vulnerability Test Capability (LS-VTC) project. This project will deliver a test capability for underwater munitions test support that satisfies the need for precision testing of a family of new high-speed (supercavitating) weapons and countermeasures. This test capability comprises launching, positioning, tracking, imaging and targeting components that together will enable extensive data capture and comprehensive analysis of supercavitating vehicle performance. An underwater environmental characterization component will also be included to support the needs of the positioning and imaging subsystems. The new test capability will also support evaluation of super-cavitating munitions fired from outside the air-water interface into the water medium. The entire capability will be transportable to enable its use in existing facilities at Aberdeen Test Center (ATC) on sea test ranges and at open ocean locations.
