Slide presentation. Actuators and sensor models expand EDA to automotive applications. Math-based computer-aided prototyping provides a flexible methodology for exploring the design of complete multi-discipline systems, from concept to manufacturing. The author describes 1st generation tools - here a gap remains between the architectural and the component level. 2nd generation solutions attempt to fill this gap. The behavioral modeling combines physical effects within system level abstraction. There remain the following limitations: - non standard, proprietary modeling languages (HDL-A, MAST), - encrypted models, - limited digital simulation, - exhaustive backplane synchronization, - incompatibility (SPICE, C), - no mixed signal mode, - difficult to use. System Vision is outlined, a 3rd generation solution which moves past the named limitations. With SystemVision it is possible to combine any level of abstraction, unify engineering domains, leverage industry standard modeling and common environment. The author further discusses the following issues: - system modeling for mechatronics, EFI integrated system model, pressure regulator, regulator mechanical / hydraulic assembly model, block-diagram model, actuator-model, SPICE model of switching current driver, test bench for integrated EFI system.
