Vehicle directional stability or handling performance is mainly influenced by balance of traction on driving wheels of vehicle. Either spin, slip, or lock of rear wheels would cause oversteer responses which in certain level of condition can make the vehicle unstable in term of directional responses. Traction control (TC) is implemented to control torsion applied on driving wheels in order to prevent the wheels from spinning and slip. Integration of torsion and brake controller in certain level of accuracy could significantly improve vehicle directional responses with or without the application of brakes. Integrated torsion control was designed to control torsion with integration of brake control in order to keep the percentage of wheel slip within the range of 0 to 10%. PID type of control with fuzzy logic was applied as integrated torsion control to achieve the optimum traction performance of vehicle. Finally, performance of control responses is simulated and discussed.
