Because of the large number of functions, carried out by underwater technical systems, strong spherical structures are usually characterised by a large number of welded-in components having high requirements imposed on the accuracy of their geometrical shape and their positioning. A decrease in the initial deviation from the regular shape (bending) is one of the urgent problems in underwater shipbuilding. The increase in the accuracy of fabrication of thin-sheet spherical and topospherical structures has become very important because of the development of new expensive high-strength materials. Special technologies have been developed for bending, loading and assembling of the lobes, installation and welding-in of components in the range of rigid design allowances, and also a method of controlling the deviations of the spherical structures from the radial form and the main assumptions of the Naval Register of the Russian Federation, containing the methods of calculation and the norms of the strength of spherical strong hulls. Work was carried out with experimental bending of large elements of spheres produced from high-strength steels and titanium alloys, and also finishing, by local compression in the cold state, of thick-wall hot-stamped lobes. It was possible to develop methods of calculating the strength of spherical structures taking into account the deviation of the shape of the structures from the regular shape, including 'The rules for classification and installation of inhabited underwater systems and deepwater diving systems'. On the basis of the proposed technologies, underwater technology objects with characteristics superior to those of foreign analogues, have been constructed in Russian shipbuilding. The metal requirement of thickplate spherical structures has been reduced by 10 - 15 %.
